Is drinking water with lemon on an empty stomach really healthy for the body? A woman who tried it has the answer

“My face cleared of pimples, even minor dark pigmentation spots and my skin was almost flawless: no inflammation or excess sebum and no new dark spots”

Nobody doubts that lemon is good for health, but does drinking water with lemon every day hide some real health benefits for our body? That’s what Gianluca Russo decided to check when she agreed to the challenge of drinking only lemon water for a week. You have probably read about the numerous healing properties of lemon, which is also mentioned as a natural antibiotic, its benefit for immunity is highlighted, it is a natural antiseptic and helps relieve sore throats and menstrual pains.

According to some, lemon water also helps in the fight against youthful acne. Russo drank 2.5 dcl of water with half a squeezed lemon on an empty stomach for a week, and already, she says, at the end of the weekly challenge, she noticed that her skin was cleaner and brighter.

“Some recipes I found said that the water should be warm, but honestly, it was bland to me, so I opted for a fresher version, and to my surprise, I saw results quickly. My face was cleared of pimples, even minor dark pigmentation spots and my skin was almost flawless: no inflammation or excess sebum (Sebum is our body’s natural fat, produced and secreted by the sebaceous glands.

Sebum is found everywhere on the body, except on the feet and palms.) and no new dark spots. In addition, it became much softer to the touch and much brighter,” writes Russo. By the way, water with lemon is one of the ways to get the required amount of vitamin C and to increase hydration.

As a few days after the end of the challenge, negative disappointment followed and part of the acne started to return, she says, she is sure that it was the lemon that protected her from the inflammation. “Also, lemon water helped my oral health, and I was less bloated,” Russo wrote, which supports research that says lemon water can also act as a natural diuretic. “My complexion improved, my breath freshened and my digestion was balanced, but I didn’t notice any other health benefits,” she writes, aware that a week of the challenge is too short a period.

“However, I also had one negative effect of drinking lemon water; every day I was thirsty, and if I didn’t quench that thirst, it left a strange taste in my mouth,” adds Russo and concludes that she will definitely consider making lemon water a regular daily practice.
